South Burnett Regional Council launches Healthy Communities Initiative

Winston Churchill once said that healthy citizens are the greatest asset any country can have.

Along that tangent, South Burnett Regional council has launched an initiative promoting health and wellbeing within the community. Nine towns in the region will be involved in the “Discover the Benefits - Healthy Communities” campaign.

Mayor David Carter, who initiated and leads the Healthy Communities Committee said that a lot of effort went into obtaining the funding for the campaign. The launches are already underway, taking place in Visitor Information Centres and parks. The campaign finishes in Proston on Monday 27 February 2012.

People are urged to register for the program Council Customer Service Centres if unable to attend the launches. An example of the Healthy Communities activity is a Nutrition and Label-reading Workshop.
